Suspect Arrested After University of New Haven Lockdown

(West Haven, CT)  --  A Fairfield man armed with two loaded handguns is being blamed for the lockdown today at the University of New Haven.  Police say a 911 caller reported seeing a man armed with a rifle in the parking lot of a Shop Rite supermarket who was heading towards the West Haven campus.  The unidentified man is a student at UNH.  Police quickly located the suspect on campus and discovered two handguns. 

The University of New Haven remains under a shelter in place order as police search the entire campus as a precaution.  No shots were fired, and no injuries have been reported.
